Composite Solutions for Side Hinged Entry Systems
Course Description:
This course will review composite component products in entry door systems to achieve enhanced system performance, in structural, livability, and safety elements in the built environment.
Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:
- Describe how composite materials are used within side-hinged entry door system components, including frames, skins, cores, sills, and edge details, to enhance structural performance and durability.
- Differentiate common composite material types used in entry door systems based on resistance to moisture, insects, thermal movement, and long-term dimensional stability.
- Evaluate how composite-based entry door systems contribute to improved energy performance and occupant comfort, including air sealing, thermal efficiency, and system integration.
- Identify composite door system features that support safety, security, and long-term performance, including impact resistance, fire-related properties, and reduced maintenance over the product life cycle.
